Stencil Making Workshop for Teenagers

Create your own reusable stencil inspired by the album artwork of your favourite band or musician.

You might reinterpret a classic album cover, or develop something completely personal using words, symbols and images connected to your family, friends, favourite things, possessions, interests or identity. The aim is to transform these ideas into a bold stencil design in your own style.

During the workshop, you will learn how to simplify an image for stencil cutting, and safely use cutting card, cutting mats, permanent marker pens and craft knives.

The finished stencil is designed to be taken away and used for future creative projects, including on legal/free walls or other authorised surfaces where painting is permitted.

The session will also include guidance on where learners can find legal street-art opportunities in Oxford and what types of artist spray paint may be suitable for using their stencil in their own time.

The workshop combines music, graphic design, stencil-making and street-art culture while encouraging learners to develop an image that is recognisably their own.
